Links to other services

We use external services to support Census 2021.

We have integrated the GOV.UK Notify API (application programming interface) to send out letters, texts and emails. This is how we send you access codes for the census or confirmation emails when you have completed it. You can read about GOV.UK Notify’s security features and GOV.UK Notify’s own terms of use. We have official sender identities when sending text messages and emails. The text messages we send through GOV.UK Notify come from Census2021. The emails we send through GOV.UK Notify come from census.2021@notifications.service.gov.uk

Our supplier, Serco Limited, runs the contact centre for the public. This includes phone calls, web chat, web form and a text message service. Serco records calls to the contact centre to improve the service for customers. Our Privacy and data protection statement has further details about this. You can also read Serco’s Privacy Policy. Users of web chat will not receive an automatic transcript of their conversation. To request one, please contact us.

We use an address index when you enter your postcode into the census questionnaire to search for an address, for example, where you live, stay or work. Our address index is based upon the Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI) / Land & Property Services (LPS) POINTER® product and is protected by ©Crown copyright and database rights 2021 NIMA MOU577.501. You may use the address index for personal use only or non-commercial research. Please contact LPS IPR Branch if you wish to use/reproduce any Northern Ireland address index information for further licencing information for any other purpose.

You can find out more information about how we use and protect your data collected by any of the services we have integrated into census.gov.uk/ni in our Privacy and data protection statement.
