Who in government can see my personal census information?
Only a small number of staff working for the Census Office who are carefully checked and approved can see it. No one else can.
All people working on the census sign the Census Confidentiality Undertaking. It’s a crime for them to unlawfully share personal census information. This includes people working for the census offices and for our suppliers.
Can the government use my census information to change my benefits?
No. Your census information cannot be used to change any service you get, and it cannot be seen by anyone who makes decisions about you.
Will this affect my residency or immigration status?
No. Your residency applications or immigration status will not be affected as a result of the details you give in the census.
Will this affect my taxes?
No. Your census information cannot be seen by anyone making decisions about individual services, like taxes.
