36. If a job became available now, could you start it within two weeks?

Why we ask this question

Your answers help your local community by allowing charities, organisations and local authorities to identify where action is needed to help tackle low employment rates in your area.

Your answer also helps local authorities to make plans that support large amounts of public spending, for example, job creation, educational opportunities and health services.

The census first asked questions on employment in 1851.

Are you available to start a job between Monday 22 March and Sunday 4 April 2021?

Select "Yes" if you could potentially start a job within this time period.

Select "No" if you're definitely not able to start work during this time period. This includes if you're not able to start work because you're self-isolating or in quarantine.

If you've no intention of returning to work, for example, you're retired, please select "No".

You should answer based on your own personal circumstances.
